Lilac City Roller Girls

The Lilac City Roller Girls are the first flat-track roller derby league in Spokane, WA. The organization had it's first meeting February 20, 2006 with a small group of women who wanted to make a difference through a sport that any woman could participate in. During our second season, we finally began getting our feet wet battling other Northwest Flat Track Roller Derby leagues and getting help from the Rat City Rollergirls and their officials. We are currently an apprentice league with the Women's Flat Track Derby Association. Our goal is to not only maintain this league and the standards we have set for future roller girls, from junior's to adults, but to grow into a professional league that can compete across the country.

LCRG is an all-female, skater owned and operated, non-profit organization. We currently have an A team (Allstars) and a B team(Maidens of Mayhem). The youngest members of our league are the Lilac City Pixies. Pixies range in age from 10-17 years old and can hold their own with our adult skaters.

Lilac City Roller Girls is proud to say it has given a helping hand to the community by holding fundraisers, making donations, and offering their time to YWCA, The Humane Society, MDA, Spokane Cancer Patient Care, The APPLE Program, Help Tequila Fund, Shriners Hospital, PBS and Healing Hearts Northwest/UJAMA. We will continue to foster friendships, good sportswomanship, composure in victory and defeat, and most of all, we want to have FUN!

WHAT IT TAKES TO BE LCRG:
*Must be female! (sorry boys! You can ref!)
*Must be 18 (if 10-17 yrs old, join our Jr Derby team the Lilac City Pixies!)
*Must have some sort of medical insurance
*Safety Gear: Quad skates, Helmet, Knee and Elbow pads, Wrist guards, Mouth guard. (Skates are available to rent for $2 and we do have some gear you can borrow, but best to get your own as soon as you can. The smell....well, we all learned to love it)
*Attend at least 1 practice a week (but don't think that's all you'll need)
*Devote time and energy to help the league run events. We ARE skater run and operated...
*Don't be afraid to fall, bruise or hit a sister - we LOVE that, too
*Previous skating experience is helpful but NOT required
*Pay monthly membership dues on time and without complaint
*MUST attend Fresh Meat Orientation so we can give you the low down on why you're gonna skate low down
